Twinkie is vanished, gone, kaput.

What’s going on? How could this happen?

There are many things in our world unsecured these days, what about these?

How safe is your job?

How safe is your retirement?

How safe is your lifestyle?

Not trying to scare you here but things are changing, so let’s take a look at what happened to the Twinkie and how this can relate to your job, retirement or lifestyle.

We all know that after 82 years the Twinkie has met it’s demise.  Hostess the maker of the Twinkie is going out of business and as of last report How Safe Is Your Twinkiethey have already disappeared from the grocery shelves. So if you haven’t already grabbed your supply, sorry to say you are out of luck they are kaput.

Depending on your Twinkie view point this might be a good thing or it might be a real tragedy.

I have heard a lot of  wailing and gnashing of teeth going on within the Facebook community from those who cannot bare to live in a world without  their Twinkie. Wow! what a totally shocking turn of events. How’s your world without Twinkie?  Frantic Twinkie lovers have grabbed them up and even memorialized them with Twinkie parties  across the country saying goodbye to this preservative laden junk food. BTW in the course of my research I did dig up this fact: the shelf life of a Twinkie is 25 days not 25 years like some have reported.

Seriously now, let’s look at the bigger picture concerning the Twinkie. What does this really say about our economy and the world we live in?

What this says is we have another casualty in our weak economy. Unfortunately for the 18,500 Twinkie workers , thirty three Twinkie bakeries, 565  Twinkie distribution centers, more than 5,000 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores all being laid off and shut down…just in time for the holiday season.  This did not come as a shock to those who follow the business.

It is getting harder for old American businesses to survive in a global economy. The cost of labor on a global scale is way down and part of the demise of Hostess was due in part to a union dispute. The company asked for wage and benefit cuts and the union refused to budge. The union blames Hostess for the closing and of course Hostess blames the union.

So here’s my take on all of this Twinkie tragedy,  from an early age you are told to get an education (while going into debt) then get a job because it willHow Safe Is Your Twinkie take care of you for the next 40 years. Sorry to say this is no longer the case for most.

I know this first hand because I too was a casualty of our changing economy.  So what can you do about it? I say you better be prepared. Get yourself a plan B and the sooner you start the better.

Check out all the options out there. Develop multiple streams of income. Don’t put all your eggs ( or Twinkies) in one basket.

My personal plan has been to start building an MLM business and while my down line is growing I am learning everything I can about marketing. I found a wonderful educational platform to help me figure out all this internet stuff and if you’re interested check it out click here.

Hostess with it’s Twinkie  is not the first company we have seen bite the dust  and it will not be the last by any means. We all need to take a long look at what is happening in the “Global Economy” and take steps now to cushion our fall if it happens to us. You can never have too many streams of income. They all add up.

If you feel threatened in this economy and you should, I encourage you to start with your plan B as soon as possible. Click here for more information.
